Conversation in Scarlets prediabetes journey
Scarlet Rouge
Hi
I'm Scarlet and on my 40th "health checkup" I was told I'm prediabetic. I am literally on the border between pre diabetic and diabetic. I have been paying close attention to the foods that I eat, although I generally cooked everything from scratch anyway I'm a firm believer that I shouldn't need to give things up, just tweak or alter the amounts that I have...although maybe not eating a whole packet of biscuits in one day will help 😅
Keeping a food journal has helped me realise how much I eat and why I'm eating. I have set a target of 1200 calories a day, and to walk a minimum 3000 steps. This may not seem like much, but as I'm disabled this is going to be a challenge for me to stick to. I also have a goal to drink more water, and add more vegetables/"anti-inflammatory" foods into my diet. I am doing a diabetes course funded by the NHS which lasts until December so hopefully have plenty more to learn.
