Mashed or baked potatoes?

I love baked potatoes as a side dish, but my partner prefers mashed potatoes - I'm just curious to see what are other peoples preferences? :)

For me it totally depends on the mains I'm partnering it with! Baked potatoes go well with grilled meats and for mashed, I only have a few in mind that I'll it with like meatballs with gravy sauce.

For me it is baked always and forever. I don't like texture of mashed potatoes. Maybe I am buying wrong potatoes or I don't make it right way. Do you have some interesting recipe to share? Which potato variety is best for mashing?

I tend to eat a baked potato as a meal in itself, with plenty of butter and cheese, Ragu and coleslaw on top. So for me your question would be roasted potatoes or mash and then if really as above all friends on my mood and what I'm coming with it. Obviously a roast dinner I'd do roast potatoes and stews I'd do mash. Or sausages and mash...
