How to cool toddler's hot food quickly?

Are there any special tricks to quickly cool your toddler's food when it's very hot?

I poke holes in it if applicable and put on an ice bath or freezer and check every couple of mins

we just stuck it in the freezer on the top of everything. we had a dedicated spot, though the kids are older now so we don't do it very often anymore. they can just wait now, haha.
