Hi Taylor! Insulin dependent diabetic (IDD) here. A healthy diet for someone with IDD is the same as everyone else but many diabetics limit carbs for important health reasons, which is what this community is about. Carbs cause the level of sugar in the blood to rise so we produce insulin to reduce this rise. People with diabetes lack insulin so when we eat carbs, the high sugar level in our blood can cause serious health issues. So we either limit our carb intake or use insulin. However, insulin is a growth hormone that can cause weight gain so many IDD still eat fewer carbs so they don’t have to inject tons of insulin. Hope that helps. 🙂
