I would suggest brown sugar. It would make the cookies look better. Also, it is proved to be healthier than white sugar!

I’m a bit late to reply, but the molasses in brown sugar makes cookies chewier and I love chocolate chip cookies with brown sugar. Technically, you can substitute with granulated sugar, but I wouldn’t.
