Newly AIP

I just found out that I'm allergic to what seems like everything and my doctor told me AIP Protocol is the closest thing to match my allergies. Let me just say this f-in blows. Nothing on this diet looks good. Tell me how you got through the change.

Start slow. Think of dish you usually enjoy and then think of a way to modify it to be compliant and still satisfying to you. For example, chicken fajitas. I cook up chicken breast that I mixed with lots of sautéed onions, some zucchini/squash and a bunch of spices (for flavor) and then put this on a cassava flour tortilla with slices of avocado. A little different but still really enjoyable. Good luck!

I hear you Rhiannon, my hubs started AIP to help with his vitiligo and let me tell you, it took this Mexican(me) a loooong time to come around. We have been on it for 1.5 years and it's a process, but came to find out most the recipes we enjoyed before call for one or two ingredients to be taken out and still hold a pretty good taste. I agree with the comment to start slowly! One resource that really helped me was the blog unbound wellness. Some of the recipes from that blog are linked in this app. I found many of them to be quick and quite flavorful! I know you said your doctor has requested that you do AIP, so it's not feeling like you made this choice, but try to think about something that could be your inspiration for continuing forward! Sometimes taking ownership of the situation can make it feel more manageable! Best of luck on your journey!!

Check out some AIP cookbooks. You’d be surprised how good the recipes are. Also, there’s a Latin American Paleo cookbook that has a lot of AIP recipes. Generally tho, it’s meat, poultry, fish and veggies. Try different veggies, you’ll be surprised how good they can be. And you’ll feel so much better in the long run. It’s not forever, it’s really so that you can start over abs test foods to eliminate what you’re reacting to.
