This isn't my usual load out, but it got me through in an emergency. I ended up displaced by a wildfire and had to stay at Brent campground for several days. I borrowed a stove and an ice chest, but had nothing else to prepare food. I went to the only store around (Dollar General) and bought: 4 qt chicken fryer (essentially a deep frying pan with a lid), a multipurpose spoon (for cooking and ladling), a paring knife, kitchen shears, can opener, small cutting board, Dawn Power Wash, small scrub brush, 2 rolls of paper towels, a cheap set of cutlery (4 ea spoons, knives, forks), and a 6 pk of resealable containers to store leftovers. To that, I added a supply of canned foods and a few fresh foods. I just posted 6 recipes that I was able to make using all that, and I ate like a king for the 4 days, and I'll have leftovers for a few more days. I'm thinking of taking all those items and packing them Ina small tote in my car as an emergency "bug out" kitchen. Hopefully I'll never have to use it again, but good to have on hand!
