Korean fish sauce

What kind of fish sauce (tuna, anchovy, etc) is often used or recommended in Korean recipes? Can I use Thai/Vietnamese fish sauce instead?

I use anchovy fish sauce for most of the Korean foods because it has a stronger fishy taste and smell, it goes well with some of the Korean foods for example like Kimchi. Also for replacing it with Thai or Vietnamese fish sauce, i recommend it if you like more mild and smooth fish flavor in your food. Many people actually go for Thai fish sauce instead of Korean one to enjoy the mildness but bear in mind i heard it's a lot more saltier than Korean fish sauce!
