Pecan pie to oatmeal pie

Hi all! I have a pecan pie recipe that I love, but I'd like to make an oatmeal pie for a friend who doesn't like pecans. Can I use my pecan pie recipe, but sub oats? There are a lot of recipes out there but my pecan pie is delicious; so, I prefer to adapt it. I'd also love to throw some coconut in there if that's a good idea.

They don't like nuts at all and oatmeal pie is made like pecan pie, but without the nuts. It was developed as a cheaper alternative.
