Wok alternatives?

I would like to try some stir fry recipes. I do not have a wok. Is there any other pan that I can use?

You can always use a nonstick pan! you may not be able to put it on as high of heat, but you can still cook it! A cast iron pan can work as well. Honestly, the value of wok pans are supposed to be they have more diect contact with the flame and thinner metal to heat up - however most modern woks sit on a grate on the stove anyway so it doesnt get as much of the benefit.

I tried a wok and didn't like it, my 12" iron skillet does great since it is WELL seasoned.

You can use a large straight-sided saute pan. The key is to have a large surface so that the ingredients can sit in one layer. The ingredients are cut into bite-size pieces so they cook quickly and evenly if most of the food gets the heat at the same time. Its good to have sides that are about 2 to 3 inches high so that your ingredients don't fly out of the pan when you stir.

I use a frying pan and it's been fine!

You can make a stir fry in any pan but the end result will not be the same. It will be good but, some veg might be over cooked...
