Rice Cooker YAY or NAY?

I've been adding small portions of white rice to 'Chinese' inspired stews I've been making recently. Now I'm tempted to buy a rice cooker, but I wonder how much of a difference it makes rather than cooking it on a normal pot?

Mostly it's that it's a "set and forget" tool. I just bought one and am pleased that we no longer have rice sticking to the bottom of the pan.

If you have the space for one I really recommend it! So much easier and convenient, no rice sticking to the bottom and set and forget like Jill said.

I could not recommend a rice cooker enough. Before, when I would use the stove top/pot method, my rice was always inconsistent in texture and "doneness" even though I would use the same measurements for rice and water. Now that I use a rice cooker, I get perfectly cooked rice every time and don't have to worry about mushy rice or rice that sticks to the bottom of the pot.

Awesome! Thanks for your suggestions, now for sure I would be buying one :D do you have any tips on seasoning white rice, I just want something that would add a bit of flavor without over seasoning it?

When Chinese serve white rice to eat with stews, they don't flavour the rice because the rice itself is 'sweet'. It may be that you don't like the brand or species of rice you've purchased. Rice can vary in aroma and taste and price by quite a bit. High quality long grain Hom Mali rice would be 2 to 3 times the price of budget long grain rice. Japanese-grown short grain rice can be 2 to 3 times the price of Hom Mali rice. We appreciate rice the way that coffee lovers appreciate coffee beans.
