How do you build a perfect barbeque fire?

I always leave that part to somebody else since I could never get it right. I too would like to hear some useful advice :)

To make it easier to build the perfect barbecue fire, build a normal fire in some sort of fire pit and put a grate over the top of it. But assuming you don't have that, the best thing you can do is build a cooking fire, this is basically a Jenga tower with the middle parts removed, to light it you put kindling and small sticks in the middle and then light the kindling and wait.
