Best way to store avocado

How do you store "opened avocado"? I am new to avocado, I've started eating it just recently. Yesterday I sliced it and put it in the fridge but it turned black a bit. Is that normal?

it is normal, just like apples, try leaving the seed on it of you're storing it in the fridge, you can try putting some olive oil to avoid oxidation but it's best to eat it fresh, I've heard lemon also helps a bit

I usually do a little bit of lemon or lime on the open part. Ivonne is right - it’s about the oxidation and totally normal! Shouldn’t change the flavor. Another thing I’ll do is put it flat side down on a little plate or bowl - sometimes that helps!

I freeze any leftover avocado.

I leave the stone in and in an airtight plastic container. You can always scrape any darker areas off with a spoon if necessary.

To keep it almost as fresh as when you sliced it, put the 2 halves of the avocado skin back together once you scoop out the part you want. The skin is the perfect "storage" container. The empty skin will just sit on top like a lid, looking like a whole avocado.

Put on lemon cover avocado in cling film place in fridge.

if you leave the stone in one side and then use the empty skin from the other side as a sort of lid, that helps a bit. you'll usually get a bit of discolouration but it won't turn totally black.

I read this years ago and it works: leave the pit in the part you're saving, then cover the surface with plastic wrap. The plastic wrap must be touching the surface/ green part, then refrigerate.

Lemon juice, lime juice, or even some juice from a fresh tomato
