FOR GERMAN CHRISTMAS COOKIES
350oven Bake

VERY

2 cbrown sugar
packed
1 tcinnamon
1 tAllspice
1 tNutmeg
1 tCloves
1 tsalt
1 pintlard
Melt
4 barschocolate
to lard, when melted mix into spice mixture above
1 quartdark Karo syrup
1 pintsour cream
2 TBaking soda
mixed in
2eggs
well beaten
1lemon
grated rind and juice of, large, Stir entire mixture well with wooden spoon
1 TAnise Oil
Not extract! Get real oil from pharmacy or online It lasts for years
2 cupswalnuts

12 cupsflour
You keep adding flour until fingers don't get sticky, it usually ends up being 14 cups

350 oven Bake 13 minutes

2 c packed brown sugar

1 T. CINNAMON

1 t. Allspice

Melt 1 pint lard

Add 4 bars chocolate to lard, when melted mix into spice mixture above

Add 1 quart dark Karo syrup

Add 1 pint sour cream with 2 T. Baking soda mixed in.

Then add 2 well beaten eggs.

Add grated rind and juice of 1 large lemon.Stir entire mixture well with wooden spoon

Finally add 1 T. Anise Oil. Not extract! Get real oil from pharmacy or online. It lasts for years .

add 2 to 3 cups chopped walnuts.

Lastly add approx 12 cups flour. You keep adding flour until fingers don't get sticky, it usually ends up being 14 cups!!

It is very hard to stir. I have a large Tupperware bowl I use each year, and my big kitchenaid aid mixer. Try to have a man stir its very thick.!!

I roll dough and use cookie cutters to make Christmas designs. My grandma lined bread pans with wax paper and filled pans, put in fridge and then sliced cookies to bake.

After baking they are very hard and should be. My kids called them hockey pucks!! You make a powdered frosting when ready to serve. Frost at least 6 hrs or more ahead of serving, the icing softens cookies. I sometimes put sprinkles on top for holiday!!
