Step 1
Preheat oven to 350. Butter a 9x13 inch pan
Step 2
Peel and core the apples. Then, cut each into 8 slices (for a total of 16 slices)

Roll each slice into a crescent roll piece, then place into the pan
Step 4
Melt the butter in a saucepan, then add the sugar and barely stir. Add the vanilla, then stir lightly, then pour the mixture over the apples. (It should be very grainy)
Step 5
Pour the soda around the edges of the pan (not on the dumplings)
Step 6
Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake until crispy on top (about 40 minutes)
