4 steps
Cook:3min
Originally called "Chocolate Chip Breakfast Drink", I found this in a microwave cookbook for kids when I was a child. I apologize that I can't remember the title or who published it.

Instructions

Step 1
1. Combine all ingredients in a large mug or two-cup microwavable glass measure.
Step 2
2. Microwave on HIGH 1 minute at a time until chocolate chips are melted, stirring every so often. DO NOT BOIL! Remove from microwave.
Step 3
3. Use a fork or a wire whisk to beat mixture until combined and frothy. If too hot, add a small amount of milk to cool down, if desired.

Tips

Step 4
* Use a peppermint candy cane as a stir stick to make Peppermint Hot Chocolate, or stir a Starlight Peppermint-flavored Mint into the hot chocolate until it melts, immediately after beating mixture with a fork or wire whisk. * Stir in a hard butterscotch candy to make Butterscotch Hot Chocolate. * Stir in some caramel syrup to make Caramel Hot Chocolate * Use half chocolate chips and half flavored chips (peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips, etc.) to change the flavor of your hot chocolate. * To make "Grown-Up" hot chocolate, add in a shot of Buttershots, white creme de menth, Kahluah, or another flavored liquor.
