Instructions

Step 1
Add 2-3 cups uncooked jasmine rice to rice cooker, along with the recommend amount of water, a splash of olive oil, and salt. Cook on normal setting. Turn off rice cooker when done and allow to rest at room temperature.
Step 2
Place chopped broccoli and chicken stock in a covered saucepan. Cook over medium-high heat for 6 minutes, or until lightly steamed but still firm. Remove from heat, drain, and set aside.
Step 3
Whisk together the oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar in a bowl.
Step 4
Heat the oil in a wok over medium-high heat until the oil begins to smoke. Add the garlic and peppers, stirring quickly. Stir in the chicken, onion, and oyster sauce mixture. After 1-2 minutes, add the partially-steamed broccoli. Cook until the chicken is no longer pink and the broccoli is cooked through.
Step 5
Raise heat to high and stir in the rice; stir quickly until the sauce is blended with the rice. Use the back of a spoon to break up any rice sticking together.
Step 6
Remove from heat and mix in the basil leaves. If desired, crack an egg over the top of the hot rice.
