Instructions

Step 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, and 1/2 tsp salt. Add vegetable oil and water. Mix until smooth. If dough is dry, gradually add more water until smooth and soft.
Step 2
Coat dough with vegetable oil and place it back in the bowl. Cover with damp kitchen towel and place in a warm place until risen, about 30-60 minutes.
Step 3
Once dough is doubled in size, knead into a smooth ball on a lightly floured surface. Flatten into a disk and divide into12 equal parts using a pizza cutter. Roll each into a smooth ball. Flatten balls with your hands. Put the filling in the center and fold the dough in half. Pinch the edges of the dough to seal, creating a half moon. Gently flatten between your palms.
Step 4
Once all hand pies are formed, heat 1 inch of oil in a large skillet. Drop4 hand pies in the hot oil and cook until golden, 3-4 minutes. Flip and cook until golden. Remove and place on a paper-towel-lined Plate. Repeat until complete. Serve and enjoy!
