Step 1
Boil water in large pot
Step 2
While water heats, chop broccoli into small pieces (mini florets; stalk into thin, quartered slices)
Step 3
gently sautee garlic and chillies in olive oil while broccoli boils; add spoon of pasta water to avoid broccoli burning
Step 4
remove broccoli from saucepan with slotted spoon or sieve and add to frying pan; add pasta to pot
Step 5
after a few minutes of the broccoli combining with the oil, add some starchy pasta water to frying pan; combine until creamy
Step 6
add pecorino to broccoli mixture; loosen up with additional pasta water as needed
Step 7
reserve some pasta water, then drain pasta; combine pasta with sauce and mix
Step 8
add black pepper and lemon zest; serve
