Instructions
Step 1
Put everything except honey and alcohol in a pot and bring to a boil. Hold there for 5 minutes. Reduce to a simmer for another 5. The mix should start looking dark blue/purple. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature at least 30 minutes. Longer doesn't hurt. Strain the liquid into a container and add the honey and alcohol.
Step 2
You can add 2-3x honey for cough syrup.
Step 3
used 16 cups water instead of 12 for 12x batch and boiled 90 minutes to let rose hips leech vitamin c 6 more TBL each cloves and ginger at end 24 total cinnamon sticks 12 added at end. Used 2 cups honey instead of 3.
Step 4
Filled 6 4oz bottles with syrup then added another cup of honey and vodka for cough syrup.
Step 5
Spices could still have been stronger. Unsure if extras added at end would be enough if boiled whole time
