Dough:
1 cupmilk
warm
2 Tbspinstant yeast
6.5 Tbspbutter
softened
2eggs
½ tspcardamom
optional
2 Tbspsugar
¼ tspsalt
4 cupsflour
Filling:
Instructions
Step 1
Mix warm milk with cake yeast. Add butter, eggs, cardamom, sugar, salt, and 3.5 cups flour. Use rest of flour if super sticky. Cover and let rise for 30 mins.
Step 2
Start filling: cream sugar and butter, then add cinnamon.
Step 3
Knead dough about 3 minutes, until firm. Divide dough in half, roll each half into large rectangles. Spread filling on each. Stack dough rectangles, filling sides up. Roll into a log and slice in 1 inch thick slices. Place slices on pan and let rest for 20 mins.
Step 4
Bake at 425 F for 10 mins, then 350 F for 10 more mins. Cover with foil if browning too fast. Top with frosting if desired.
