Instructions

Step 1
Cook chicken in oil until browned and to temp - remove from pan and set aside

Brown sausage - remove from pan and set aside

Cook shrimp if not precooked - remove from pan and set aside

Put all white onions in pot and cook until brown - about 30 minutes

Add chicken broth and bring to a boil

Add remaining ingredients, including previously set aside proteins

Stir thoroughly

Let simmer for 30 minutes or until rice is tender

Notes:

Step 9
You can use any combination of the proteins above, and adjust as necessary. Sometimes I find I need a little more liquid, so I add in a couple cups of water towards the end of the simmer time if the rice isn't looking like it's going to be ready. I often simmer this for 45 minutes or more...just need to keep an eye on the liquid level. Also highly depends on the rice being used. Change up the spice level with more/less red pepper flakes
