Hi Angela. I had very high blood pressure. DASH helped me learn about sodium content in what I eat. It was shocking how much sodium is in everything! Based on what I learned, I did a pantry and fridge over haul. Replaced all high sodium items with low or no sodium products. I started tracking sodium in what I ate on Lose Iit app. I lost 35 lbs in two months and was able to cut my blood pressure meds dosage from 20 mg lisinipril to 10 mg a day so far. I should be 100 percent off lisinipril next Dr visit. I have way less inflammation and lots of energy. High blood pressure is one of the conditions that can cause ckd. I would think following DASH will help you in the long run by reducing one of the factors possibly contributing to your condition.
