Yes, any other bean, including boiled peanuts or lima, would work. At least, they would supply the same nutrients. But every kind of bean, and there are thousands of varieties, has a little different flavor. If you want the same flavor you must use the same bean. But if you don't care for that flavor, well, that is opinion, and everyone has one of those, just use a bean whose flavor you like! 🙃😉

sure but if you want a similar flavor/texture red (esp) kidney beans work. could also try something like cashews if you are just looking to switch things up are don't want beans.
