Most of our biscuits are usually made using flour, water, salt, baking powder, sometimes yeast. There are ones you fold cold chopped butter into the butter to get a flaky inside texture that you place in a greased muffin tin, then there are the drop kind where you mix it up like thick pancake batter and just scoop spoonfulls on a greased pan and bake. You could try searching "american biscuit recipes" if they don't come up with just the word biscuit.
