I use this recipe for every pie that I make that needs a classic pie crust. I use the all butter option for the recipe. I personally don't like putting shortening into my pie crusts, it gives off a weird mouth feel and it doesn't taste good. The flavor that the butter gives to the pie crust is amazing. When I make apple pies ๐ ๐ ๐ฅง I usually add a tsp of cinnamon into the dough as well. Adds a nice hint of spice. Furthermore, for the egg wash, I just take an egg and whisk it and use that as my egg wash. I take it a step further and I put King Arthurs Sparkling Sugar on top of the egg wash before baking and it looks beautiful and gives this amazing sweet crunch.
