The addition I made to this recipe is that I used an 1/8th of a teaspoon of baking soda because the taste can be detected if you use 1/4th of a teaspoon. Also, I used 3 tbsp of butter with 3 tbsp of lard—not shortening. It gives it a great flavor. I did not brush tops with buttermilk. I just added the extra buttermilk to the dough. When the biscuits were done, I buttered the tops, sides and bottoms. Let cool completely before storing in a large container. Yummilicious! 😋👏🏽🤗
