I used half a tablespoon of tomato puree and the gravy was still very tomatoey. It worked for a used it for, to go with a nut roast, but wouldn't go with everything. Maybe try leaving out the puree? I cooked it for some time and then let the flavours absorb before sieving. Careful not to do what I did and drain it over a sink!! Luckily I realised in time and managed to save half of it😆.
