I didn't feel it was fair to fully down vote it, but if there was a middle rating option, this would probably get it.
I will preface all of this by saying that I'm not vegan, or even vegetarian, so take that as you will.
The flavor was quite good! It's got a bold, smoky flavor. I was worried about the maple taste, but the cayenne and liquid smoke balance it nicely. It did not have any of the bitter aftertaste people worry about with tempeh.
Cooking it was a bit less great. You can read on the website reviews that it's very difficult to actually make this crispy, and I found that to be true as well. Even if you can cut it very thin, it will start to burn instead of crisp. But the thinness the recipe calls for really isn't enough. It wasn't bad, but it probably wasn't what you want based on the picture.
Good flavor, great protein source, but if crispy is essential to you, I'd skip it. It tastes a bit more like if you made a bar out of edamame pods and then flavored it like bbq. Not bad to the right person, but I put this in the protein snack category.
