I did not add the extra butter or cinnamon sugar to the cinnamon rolls, so it was just the Pillsbury cinnamon rolls and apple pie filling. I drained most of the sugar syrup off the apple pie filling when I added it to the cinnamon rolls. I put the glaze out as an optional add-on instead of drizzling it on the top.
It turned out fantastic! Not too sweet that it was overpowering but just right.
I also covered it in the oven for the first 20 minutes and then baked an additional 15 minutes uncovered and it was perfectly cooked in the middle and just golden brown on top. It kept well in the fridge overnight and reheated well the next morning.
