Instead of just beef broth I used equal parts red wine, water, and beef broth. I reduced the amount of balsamic vinegar to maybe 2 Tbsp. It was pretty good, but if I make it again I would reduce the amount of black pepper by a lot, maybe increase the other spices, and add more carrots (because I like carrots). I thought it was weird that there were both “too much spices” and “not enough spices” comments and I think it’s because the black pepper was overwhelming everything else.
