Oats are gluten free. The risk of gluten contamination comes if they are processed in a factory that also processes wheat items. They would specify this on the label (in the US) though. I know some people with celiac disease cannot have oats because they also react to avenin. Is that why or is there another reason? Just curious.

In the US here there are Certified Gluten Free oats. Regular oats not certified may only have trace amounts if any. Not for a celiac to eat. But I’m not celiac. I can eat gluten, but it flares up my fibro pain badly, but the amount that would be in oats shouldn’t affect me.
