I've made this several times, and it comes out beautifully.
I usually use a garlic butter made with 2T butter (melted), 10 small garlic cloves (crushed), 2T olive oil, and 2T fresh herbs (I use whatever I like to taste, rosemary and oregano are excellent).
I brush it on after making the dimples, just before baking.
This makes the most amazing garlic bread, which lasts approximately 30 minutes after serving 😂
