Well, I didn't have sausage, but I did have ground pork, fennel, and herbs, so it's the same thing. I finished them in Sunday gravy and joy was had by all. My family doesn't do spicy, so I resisted the urge to add pepper flakes, but they would have worked. I especially liked the hit of umami from the Parmigiano.
