Didn't use tomato paste because we didn't have any. Used a can of Rotel tomatoes. It was good, and easy to make.. the peppers were soft but crunchy as well so if you like a softer pepper, cook it longer. Of course I also used my own amount of spices. I never follow the recipe on spice levels .
