Honestly, I think it would be better without the batter. The marinated chicken is so good by itself, topped with the lemon sauce to give it extra flavor, I think it would be good without. But I don't have a deep fryer, so I didn't get the full crispy deep fried chicken experience with this because I had to dip them in simmering oil in a pot...
