The dish as a whole is bland. The chicken is just a flavorless mass that adds this weird texture to the dish. It just doesn't taste like cordon bleu. The chicken needs to be browned and seasoned first to give it some flavor, and instead of using deli ham, get a ham steak and dice it up, because the deli ham just clumps into massive balls instead of separating. I would also add toasted bread crumbs as a garnish, and lots of them, because cordon bleu is supposed to be breaded.
