I didn't soak my beans. I cooked them on the stove with my leftover thanksgiving ham. I let it come to a boil and then I simmered for four hours. I added a total of 12 cups of broth from start to finish. Other than that I followed the recipe to the letter. It was the best bean soup my husband said he ever tasted, that says a lot when he said no soup can beat his ex mother in-laws. 😊
