I didn't make the potatoes, so I don't have a review on that as I just fried up a bag of frozen fries. Also, I made the fish in a deep fryer rather than a pan with oil. Despite it not being a beer batter, the texture of the batter definitely felt like it was! The only issues with the meal were all user error, and not to the recipe itself. Although, I might play around with fish types to see if I can find any more flavorful, since that was my boyfriend's only gripe about it. I loved the fish, and it wasn't too hard to make either! I don't forsee myself making the potatoes in the future, but I'm sure those are great also.
