You were supposed to use lean meat, but to make it less greasy cook the meat first until well done, then strain. You will loose a little meat juice, but just add some low-fat beef broth back in. Your comment about the "tomato soup" flavor makes me wonder if you did use tomato soup instead of tomato sauce. If you didn't then a very small amount of apple cider vinegar, less than a teaspoon, will help correct the "soup " flavor. Not sugar.

Ummm. No, definitely tomato sauce. & i do absolutely nothing but lean meat. No cheap meat here... also I followed the recipe and didn't like it. So I moved on. 🤷‍♀️
