I think this is getting mixed reviews for sweetness because weight and volume are not interchangeable for sugar types because of varying density. A standard cup of granulated sugar is approximately 200 grams or 7.1 ounces. That said this dessert is supposed to be decadently sweet and this is a show stopper for anyone who has never tasted it before. When pouring the warm mixture over the cake, go slow or use a spoon to keep the browned top intact and to moisten evenly.
