I liked it! I added some broccoli for fun and used two shallots instead of regular onion. I didn't find it bland at all, but I also think it might taste good with a couple of other seasonings added. Diced ham is already so salty, you really have to be careful dumping in too much extra seasoning, though. I couldn't find deep dish crusts at the store so I got regular crusts and the filling this recipe produces (with the added veggies) was enough to fill both crusts.
