None of the ingredients are optional. You really need those spices for a balanced meal. I often use leftover chicken in this. I know that cashews are an important part of the dish, and you can't really taste them in there anyway, but I never have them so I often soak and pulverize almonds or pistachios instead. Sorry, I don't want to buy cashews if I won't eat them plain. Don't skip the methi. I like to serve it with jeera rice, kachumber, dry roasted spiced chickpeas, and carrot halwa, but not gonna lie, I often serve some garlic naan when cooking for many.
