I learned from this recipe that a lot of store-bought gnocchi has lactic acid, which makes it taste sour when boiled. That ruined this soup for me, but I could also tell that the soup was delicious if it hadn't been for the off-putting sour taste of the gnocchi. I will make it again but maybe replace the gnocchi with pasta or potatoes. It's an excellent base. Also, I used half and half instead of heavy cream, and next time I might use half of that with milk. It doesn't need all the heavy fat.
