I expected to like this, but was surprised I loved it! Original recipe used green cabbage and a red onion; I used napa and shallot which I had on hand, and it turned out excellent. Many comments on the original did not like the pungency of the agrodolce with the red onions, but I really liked it with the shallots. It definitely takes some time, but does well on it's own with the quinoa as a protein, or make a half recipe to have as a side with another hearty dish. I thought it went very well with a recipe for giant chipotle baked beans. :)
