Ooh! I bet candied fruit would be really good. I've always loved candied fruit in fruit cakes, so they'd probably compliment the cake very well. Gotta love a yummy and versatile cake. (:

Oh, neat! I don't use the candied fruits enough in my own baking, but my grandmother uses them a lot. I might buy her a subscription for her upcoming birthday (the 13th of this month). I love family recipes that get handed around. I still have a few of my Memaw's (great-grandmother) recipes, but mine are scattered around like yours, lol. I love that baking and cooking bind generations together, regardless of the major time-gaps.

Aww, that's always the best. I love when I make some recipes from family members who have either passed or moved far away and the smell of the food is like having their company. It's not boring at all. I love hearing stories about people's lives (probably why I always end up picking biographies and autobiographies from the library, lol). It warms my heart when people light up from memories and are eager to share them. I'm third-generation Native American and third-generation German on my paternal side; the only two things I have left from my grandfather are recipes for German cuisine and a limited vocabulary (he passed before he could teach me too many words, but I'm happy he taught me any at all). My paternal-aunt (by marriage) is from the Philippines and makes amazing, authentic dishes from her home country. My maternal-family is mostly Southern and comfort foods. My Memaw's collard greens were the only ones I would eat as a kid; they were even my first solid food, lol. They started me on soul food very young.

That's amazing that you know so much of your lineage. My heritages are very important to me, so being close to my ancestors through flavors is huge for me. I want my future children to get to experience pieces of those lost before them. I'm a sucker for carbs, lol. I love hearty meals, especially stews and soups. It's good that you're enjoying the change of pace. What's been your favorite dish that isn't kosher? I adore cheese, but I'm extremely lactose-intolerant. I'm stubborn, though, and just face the consequences. I ended up in the hospital once because my diet was basically just cheese, milk, and milkshakes back when I worked at our local bakery.

It was a short-lived job, but it was a blast while I was there. I even got to use one of my own recipes before I left. We were known for making popular stuffed croissants (they were okay, but I was mostly there for the tiramisu and cannolis, lol), and we'd get to use our recipes for a week-long special. Mine was a croissant stuffed with sweet potato filling, a maple drizzle topping, crushed pecans, and whipped cream. A friend of mine, who is going to culinary school, and I have been discussing opening our own bakery. We'd have to start small with pop-up places and booths, but I think we could make. Lol, we could be carb cousins!
Oh, nice! It's always nice to have homemade sauces. It sounds pretty tasty. I'm sorry they've gone missing in the shuffle. I've moved around a lot in my life, so a lot of my stuff is lost to time now. But, I'm glad the internet can kinda give me the gist; it's not the same as an original, but I like that I can get pretty close to the recipes I've lost over the years.
Hmm, that's a tough one. In terms of baking, I'd say anything autumnal. I really like making pumpkin bread and pumpkin biscuits. As far as meals, I'd probably go with beef stew over rice. I love anything hearty and cozy. For sauces, I always make a spiced maple syrup, as it's tasty and versatile and a little dab will do. I take two cups of store-bought syrup and boil on the stove, adding butter, cinnamon-sugar, vanilla, and a dash of almond extract.
Thanks! It's been pretty nice today. I hope yours has been going well, too! (:

Lol, it's okay. No problem, it lasts a long while. Aw, thanks! I hope we can get it together. Yeah, I wish this app had that feature, especially since my only other social media is Instagram. I'm open to any and all ideas, though. Wow, that's amazing! I need to reorganize my recipe cards, lol. I'm sorry you've lost so many of them. It's always a bummer when stuff like that happens. I'm actually pretty well-known for my turkey, too. That's why my mother always makes me cook it, lol. My mother loves everything chocolate-mint. I make her chocolate-mint pies on special days by making an Oreo crust and filling it with a mixture of mint-chocolate chip ice cream and whipped cream. I make sure I stir the filling until it's as creamy as possible, fill the crust, and pop it in the freezer for about an hour or so. My favorite main dish is fried chicken tenders, my favorite dessert is either carrot cake with whipped cream frosting or cheesecake, my favorite spice is also cinnamon (nutmeg is a close second), my favorite pie is pumpkin in the fall and lemon-blueberry meringue in the summer, my favorite bread is pumpernickel, my favorite cookies are oatmeal-raisin, shortbread, and gingerbread. You make candy? I need your secrets, lol. I've only ever made peanut cluster candy with chocolate bark, but making actual candy never works out for me. The only ingredients in my candy are burnt sugar and tears, lol.

My nearest craft store is (sadly) over an hour away, but I've seen candy molds in the local Wal-Mart. Would you recommend them, or should I invest until I can purchase some from the craft store? Peanut butter cup molds would be a lifesaver in my house because my step-father can eat his weight in Reese's cups, lol. He's recently lost almost two-hundred pounds and they're the things he misses the most, so I'd love to maybe make him a healthier version for when he reaches his goal weight. It may take awhile for me to get everything (most of our money goes towards medical bills and utilities), but I'll definitely keep you posted. Ooh, my mother would love that. I'll browse for it for sure. I haven't made my lemon-blueberry pie yet this year, but I'll post it here when I do. My friend has access to fresh fruits and vegetables, and she always brings me some so I can have fresh ingredients at a lower cost. I hope your day is going well, too! (:

Hi, sorry for the late reply, my internet was out for awhile. They've been doing a lot of work, so random internet and power outages have being going on in my town. If you'd like, you can message me more freely on Instagram. My handle is moodymermaid3690. (:
