If you ever make homemade muffins again, toss berries in flour & add to top (don’t mix in). That helps some

I also suggest adding stuff to the top. For me, I would have made the base and omitted the solid pieces like nuts and berries. Then I would put the cups 3/4 full, add some of the berries/chocolate/nuts and the bake, as it bakes those ingredients will sink a bit. I also believe folding in a tiny bit of cake flour to the wet ingredients will help add a fluffiness to the muffins and make the liquid a little more dense to prevent sinkage. I asked my grandma and she agrees that would be a good suggestion.

thank you both! I added stuff to the top when I did it but it sank. I also used chocolate chips, which are heavier I guess? maybe? the muffin itself just turned out different than any muffin I've had before.
