Followed the instructions and it worked as promised. I only used 3/4 C sugar and it was lightly sweet. It spread very easily. It was *just* enough for 2 x 9" cakes. Nothing to spare. In fact, I had placed to keep some aside to decorate and decided instead to just coat the cake and see whether I would have any left but I didn't have any extra.
Made this a second time. Scaled up for 18 servings and used 1C sugar. I had a little left over and could have used more between layers and it would have been just about right. People commented that they liked that is wasn't so sweet.
