I followed the recipe as-is and had no problems. Before I made it I read your review and looked through the original sources' notes to try to prevent them from drying. I found a few things that could have caused it. On the website, she mentions if you don't use full fat for the dairy then that could happen. So full fat sour cream/yogurt and whole milk. I believe she even suggests using buttermilk. I'm not sure the mini chips would cause dryness but maybe the Splenda can. Perhaps Splenda alters the product somehow. You may need to tweak recipes when substituting with Splenda. You would have to look into that though. The only other possibility I could think of is maybe you cooked them a little too long. I hope I helped so they come out moist next time.
