Such a headache for so little gain. Maybe it's because I was having a bad day in the kitchen, or maybe it's because this was my first go with cinnamon rolls. Regardless, nothing in this recipe seemed to go right- the dough refused to proof, was sticky to the point of being unrolled (or, when floured, refused to stay together), the butter refused to spread on the dough, the rolls didn't hold their shape at all, the final product came out soggy, doughy, and inedible. The recipe takes longer than advertised because of the sheer amount of proofing required, not to mention the delays in getting the prep done because nothing wants to cooperate. In my case, there was a huge mess to clean up afterwards. Plus, it takes up so many different ingredients. If I had to do it again, I'd just go buy the Pillsbury canned cinnamon rolls- way easier and at least edible in the end. By the time these things came out of the oven, we knew they weren't even worth frosting, so I can't speak to how 'copycat' the flavor profile is, but I can say that, unlike Cinnabon, I didn't even want to eat these.
